I just got an enormous craving for a greek salad. Must be those kalamata olives I keep snarfing out of the refrigerator.

I've searched the archives and the most recent reference I can come up with is an aside about Clementine. Where's Clementine? The older posts come up 404. Anyone know of a better place? I'd really love it if it was near Westside and/or had take-out, but I'm willing to travel and/or sit down for the ultimate salty, crunchy, cold, cheesy, tangy experience.

Thanks.

Clementine is a cafe near Century City. However, I believe they only have their excellent Greek salad when tomatoes are in season. I don't think you will be able to get a good salad this time of year.

I really like their grilled shrimp and calamari salad with garbanzos, carrots, cilantro in a nice cumin-scented dressing (in the salad case, not on the menu). And their carrots with olives and feta. And their chicken salad of the season (currently still Autumn, I think, with grapes and apples). Also, their cold meatloaf sandwich is pretty damn fine. Is the Greek salad worth giving all those up?

Clementine is perhaps the most frustrating place I frequent regularly. I love the food and the atmosphere, but the parking is an absolute nightmare. I work on the south end of Century City so I always shoot up Ave. of Stars, hang a left onto SM and start looking. I have driven around the block(s) as many as 6 times before either finally getting a space or giving up altogether (and usually heading to Eduardo's on Westwood, another fave) since lunchtimes aren't exactly unlimited. I know Clementine shares the tiny parking lot with Johnnies but that pans out only occasionally. What do you do? I try to go late, like after 1:30, but it's still a mess even then. Bless the city of LA for doing permit parking on the streets. My dad lives over by the Mormon Temple and I've thought about checking to see if the permits are the same and, if so, just buying one so I can park on the street to go to Clementine. Thoughts of desperation.

I like pretty much everything they have. I have never had the Greek Salad, but it is popular when we have their catering.

Eating at Clementine requires great craftiness. Sometimes I walk over. Sometimes my sister picks me up and we hover in her huge mini-van. We usually go on the earlier side, which works better than going later. The most croweded parking day is "choose your own lunch special Thursday." Monday and Tuesday are the easiest.

I wish I had a better suggestion. We just drive down the street until we find something. *ahem* Going to Clementine is often a longer lunch for me.

I must be a glutton for punishment since I'm about to commit what I'm sure is a LA Chowhound cardinal sin. I'm going to recommend a restaurant on Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade. I apologize for not knowing the correct name of this place, but it is the only Greek restaurant on the Promenade (I think). I've been addicted to their Greek salad for years. It has all the good stuff: kalamata olives, good creamy feta, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, pepperoncini and even a few dolmas for good measure. What really make it tops though is their homemade Greek salad dressing. I can't seem to talk them out of the recipe, but I'm pretty sure lemon, feta, olive oil and oregano are key players.
