Tajine is Closed

Xiao Yang Dec 9, 2008 10:10 PM

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this, but according to the Tablehopper Newsletter, Tajine closed on Dec. 2. The owner has personal matters to take care of in Morocco, and hopes to reopen in a year.

They've reopened in a much larger, nicer space quite a ways up Polk street near Clay. Same affordable menu, excellent quality and friendly service. Use the link below to find more detailed reports from myself and others.

I was, finally, going to try it Tues, Dec 8 and driving by, looking for parking, saw newspapers taped to windows. I was shocked because I thought CH would have already mentioned something so I thought maybe it was only closed for remodeling. Too bad. Wonder what's going in there?

City Kebab opened two months ago at this location at 1338 Polk Street. We opted for a quick dinner before the movie, Tokyo!, at Lumiere Theater on California Street - the movie's great and the food was a good value - tasty-generous portion-reasonable-quick. $6.95 for the Lamb & Beef Gyro Wrap and $11.95 for the Lamb Shish Kebab plate with lamb cooked medium-rare as requested, house salad, rice pilaf and housemade bread. Friendly service and it's a convenient walk to the theater.
