Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Manhattan

Pre-Theater or Post-Theater?

My boyfriend and I are coming to NYC over New Years...we're going to see South Pacific on Friday Jan. 2. It's his first time in NYC since he was a kid, so it would be great to take him to a "very NYC" restaurant before or after our show. Any suggestions? Price is not much of an issue...we live in SF so we know good food (not trying to compete with you New Yorkers though!) and we don't want a touristy spot. Thanks very much!

    1. There are several excellent restaurants in the vicinity of Lincoln Center. Here are three that I like. All have delicious food.

Picholine is the most upscale. It is especially known for its superb cheese program. While jackets are not required, most men do seem to wear them.

Telepan is upscale though not as expensive as Picholine. Business casual dress is appropriate.

Bar Boulud is 4-star chef Daniel Boulud's wine bar. *The* thing not to miss is the charcuterie. Not upscale though not inexpensive. Casual ambiance and dress.
