Curras Dom -Woodfin/Asheville - slipping?

I've been a big fan of this place and have had lunch there at least 3 times and dinner about 6 in the past 8 months. Had dinner there recently and seems like things are slipping a bit and wanted to know if anyone else has noticed this.
-missing items/out of things - My husband's dish was supposed to have rice but didn't. The waiter had a laundry list of items that they were out of: tamales, one of the beer and wine selections from the menu, cevice and one of the fish items on the menu....and no to go containers....when you are out of items that are ON your regular menu this is not a good sign and seems to indicate some issues with how the kitchen is managed and how well they plan.
-seasoning - the whole fish of the daywas incredibly bland. Once we asked for salt and put a generous helping on it it was much improved, t hough it took us about 10 minutes to get the attention of the waiter to get the salt.
-shrinking portions - one of my favorite dishes there has been the stuffed peppers. I have gotten them almost every time I have been and had always gotten 2 medium sized peppers. The last time the portion size was about 1/2 what it had been on other occasions and when I mentioned this to the server I was told that this was because ("you got a bigger pepper") - this was not the case. Additionally, the dish is just not as good as it used to be. The first few times that I had it it was amazing. This time big chunks of meat and curls of bacon/ham fat spoiled the dish. I can only attribute this to a change in chefs.
-slower service - service here has never been speedy but it has typically been better paced. On our most recent trip they had 2 servers and 4 tables (including ours). We got our apps quickly and then waited more than 20 minutes after apps were cleared to get our entrees, we found this excessive.

    We have only been for dinner twice, and while we always thought the food was good (not great), I still always thought it was horribly overpriced. Portions we really, really skimpy for both meals. I had TWO scallops on my $20+ entree the last time we went and that was it for me wanting to go back on my own dime.

      I've been to the restaurant three times for dinner. Time 1 was quite good as was time 2. Unfortunately, time 3 was NOT good. The lamb was of poor quality and overcooked. The manager came over after our complaints and asked if we would like something else. He should have simply sent over a glass of wine or offered dessert.

      In fact, the entire meal was quite awful for four people who ordered different first courses and entrees (duck, a melted cheese option with tortillas, red snapper). Everything was quite awful.

      We would never go back there again, and we do not recommend the restaurant to others.

        since this posting I've been there 2x for lunch and the food has been good. Hopefully they will rectify any problems. Regarding the post below....I think that is SOP to offer another entree, though most of the time it doesn't make much sense time-wise.

          I recently wrote a review on here about their brunch - we have been the last three weeks in a row, and contrary to my thoughts on their dinner portion sizes as related to price (not much bang for the buck, IMO) - the exact opposite is true at brunch. Very inexpensive, less than $10 a plate, and HUGE portions that are very well executed. And their fresh squeezed OJ is a must! I highly recommend their Sunday brunch. Some lunch items are offered at that time as well.

          I have been to Curras 3 times for dinner and have never left disappointed! The food and service are wonderful! The owner has paired wines perfectly for me and the new avocado margarita- WOW!

            Drove by today and it looks like they are building a large covered patio there too.

            According to an article at Citizen-Times.com, Curras Dom will be closing this weekend apparently a victim of the economy.

              It is too bad. Cute place, nice owners, good food...prices were just too high for us to enjoy going there regularly even though it is just down the hill from our house. At $20+ a plate it was more like a special occasion place, and for special occasions I prefer to enjoy Fig or go hog wild at Zambra or something. Curras also had a brunch that we enjoyed very much. And they definitely had the BEST margaritas in town!

              Seems so. Advertising for a Sous Chef again. Can't seem to keep 'em over there.
