Anyone had the Christmas buffet at the Crown Room in the Fairmont?
Wondering how it compares to the Garden Court and Top of the Mark.

I didn't know the Crown Room reopened. I think it was closed for a few years.
Anyway, I was there way too long ago to count ... more the 10 years .. much more. At the time it was too fussy, I remember lots of things in aspic. Nice fish display, pretty desserts. Nice room and view.
However, looking at the menu they seemed to have updated
http://www.fairmont.com/saf/ChristmasBuffetMenu.htmNot just oysters, but Hog Island oysters. organic eggs, Wild Petaluma Mushroom & Duck Confit Salad, Dungeness Crab, some decent cheeses ... Ritz take note with your crummy cheeses ... anyway the Fairmont has a selections from Cypress Grove, Cowgirll and Fiscalini Farmstead. There's San Francisco Sourdough Stuffing with brown figs & apples, Lavender Crusted Seabass, Molasses Lacquered Cornish Game Hen, Kobe Sliders with Cheddar and Caramelized Onion on an Herb Roll (for the kiddies)
CARVING STATION
Salt Cured Dietsal Turkey with Sage Gravy
Maple Leaf Duck Breast with Red Currant Jus
Salmon Wellington with Spiced Citrus & Cilantro Salsa
Rack Of Colorado Lamb with Mint Essence
Pineapple & Orange Glazed Breakfast Ham
Rosemary & Garlic Crusted Niman Ranch Tenderloin, Seghsio JusAnd much, much more. It seems the most interesting of the three buffet menus

Indeed the menu looks pretty swell. I was all set for Top of the Mark until I saw the Fairmont's menu.
I know the Crown Room was open as far back as last Christmas as I almost made a reservation there but went with Top of the Mark instead. Can't seem to find anyone that's had the buffet at the Crown Room recently.
