MAS Cuisine - mini review

If you miss Brunoise back in the Plateau like me, good news. The chef has opened a new restaurant in Verdun. The menu is very similar style to the old place. The quality if the food is as great as expected. The sweetbread melted in the mouth, definitely to die for. We had chocolate tart, vanilla cream and cheese plate for desserts. Everything is well priced as well (20s-30s for 2 courses). We were very satisfied.

Can you expand a bit on the food? Is it all classical French, meat-heavy stuff?

at dinner there was a beef Bourguignon which my companion from london thought the best he had ever had, a scallop dish, sweetbreads, fish, and one or two other mains. the appetizers were wonderful( my favorite an onion tart with ham and a poached egg), several deserts all of which are diet killers other than the delicious fruit salad with some vanila tea. the wine list was reasonable from many countries. the art and ambiance make it a relaxed place to spend the evening, it is less formal than brunoise was, so i appreciated that aspect. the kitchen is partially open so you can see the concentration and activities of the chefs(there are two).

Just came back from lunch there, beef bourguignon is on the lunch menu as well. There are also pasta dishes, beet salad, salmon dish, etc accompanied with daily soup or salad. Price is awesome, everything is under 15$.

This former Brunoise chef you're referring to -- do you mean Michel Ross?

It is indeed Michel Ross. I read about it on Lesley C.'s blog a few weeks back. I'm looking forward to checking it out, as I never got a chance i.e. was too much of a loaf to try Brunoise before it closed.

If Ross is there it's definitely worth checking out. Race you to Verdun!

Yes it is Ross. It's a small place so it may be a good idea to call and reserve later on.
