Cakes by Robert? / Need a GOOD photo cake

fussychow Dec 8, 2008 07:34 AM

Anyone have any feedback on where I can get a GREAT cake that also happens to be a photo cake? I know these two things don't normally go together!

Cakes By Robert does photo cakes and they look decent, but I have never had the opportunity to try one of their cakes.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Cakes by Robert are very good - I've only had them at children't bday parties. They're pretty simple layer cakes, but everyone always seems to like them.

Never had a photo cake by them but their birthday cakes are delicious. Everything a birthday cake should taste like. Sweet, but not overly sweet. Soooo tasty. Love em.

You may find some useful info in this previous thread, which mentions some other suppliers.

We had a chocolate cake from Cakes by Robert for my son's birthday in October and it wasn't very good. Way too sweet, tons of icing and chocolate was very bland. I'd much rather save my money and get a Costco cake instead. But if you need a photo cake, they do it.

Cakes by Robert is fabulous! Just went to a 50th birthday party where he
created a masterpiece of a cake....even though there were tons of fancy
pastries, the huge cake was gobbled up by all the adults with nary a crumb
left...the birthday girl barely got a slice.

Costco cakes are gross, covered in a lard like icing.
