Ex-Hong Konger Japanese chef opens a restaurant in Seoul, Korea

A Japanese chef who used to be the chef-owner of Sushi Dokoro Matsudo (鮨處松戶) at 100 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, has left the Hong Kong restaurant and opened a new luxurious sushi shop in Seoul, Korea.

Sushi master Mr. Matsudo Toshio, who had served such world celebrities as former Prime Minister Hashimoto and President Bush, opened 'Sushi U' in Seoul, partly capitalized by his business partner Mr. Tanaka Fumio, president and CEO of Japan's third biggest toy manufacturing firm.

Sushi U has a 'Live Sushi Room', in which chef Matsudo Toshio will serve sushi exclusively to those who reserve the room.
Sushi set costs about KRW120,000 (appr. HK$670), omakase course KRW250,000 (HK$1,400), and live sushi room menu ranges between KRW300,000 and KRW1,000,000 (HK$1,650 to HK$5,500).

I tried their omakase course and sushi was really great, and other dishes were good but not quite justified the price.
Sushi U will open its overseas branch next spring in Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong.
