Where to eat for a short DC trip r/o

DH and I are dumping the DD at a church retreat and heading to DC for a night. We'll have lunch and dinner, maybe breakfast. What's new that we must try. Because we live in Yorktown, and don't get much good ethnic food, we'll want one meal to be ethnic.
Maybe Mark's Duck House? Where's the best Pho in DC/NOVA lately?

Pho Hot in Annandale has really good pho and cha gio. Pho Golden Cow in Falls Church has fantastic pho (as good as Pho Hot) but less than steller cha gio. Pho Sate also in Falls Church has pho with fried crullers, which I enjoy dipping in the soup (but I find their soup not as good as Golden Cow or Hot).

If you really want Cantonese Chinese, you can try Miu Kee on Rt. 50. Mark's Duck House is not consistent these days. Fortune offers a lobster special but I don't know how good it is. For Sichuan (spicy), try Hong Kong Palace. In Springfield, there's Canton Cafe. Canton Cafe, Mark's and Fortune all offer dim sum for brunch. I like Canton Cafe's dim sum.

If you haven't had Korean before, try it. I doubt you can get good Korean in Yorktown and it's deliciously different from Chinese and Vietnamese. Woo Lae Oak is English friendly. The places in Annandale can be a bit intimidating but they're better and cheaper.

Thanks! How about some French bistro recommendations? What's good (not necessarily French) in DC proper? We'll probably stay in DC or Alexandria.

Either Beck's or Central for first choice. Possibly Et Voila although I prefer the first two. Cafe du Parc is an outstanding, definitive DC experience when the weather is warm enough to sit outside on PA Ave. Inside the room is drab and the food, overall, is a notch below the above three. For a weekend you MUST reserve at all three. They are enormously popular unless you are willing to sit at the bar.
