Best catfish poboy

In the thread on Parasol's somebody offhandedly mentioned that Guy's has the best catfish poboys. Well, I've had a catfish poboy at Guy's, and it was indeed very good. But the best catfish poboy I've had in New Orleans is, surprisingly, at Zara's on Prytania. The fish was perfectly fried and seasoned, the bread was wonderfully fresh and chewy, and the whole sandwich eating experience was simply transcendent. I was surprised to get such a good sandwich at Zara's since their roast beef poboy is mediocre to bad. But the catfish is out of this world. I'm starting to realize that there is an awfully lot of good food to be found at grocery stores and convenience stores in this city.

I personally love the cat fish poboy at Dunbar's on the Loyola campus. While their fried chicken is excellent it tends to be pre-fried and under heat lamps - however the catfish is fried to order and never disappoints. Great cheap uptown fix.

have had good catfish po boys from Cajun Catfish House on Central in Old Jefferson. also check out: Galley Seafood on Met. Rd., RiverPond Seaffod on Airline, and Parenton's on Ellen in Old Jeff.

The catfish poboy at Cafe Reconcile is excellent. The one at Zimmers is really good too.

No nominees for best catfish poboy (I like my catfish sans bread), but a bread note: Zara's uses Binder's bread, which is the best mass-market french bread left in the city, I think.
