Tantakan Shochu in Victoria?

bonbons Dec 6, 2008 10:04 PM

Hi, does anyone know if this is available here, or do I have to go to Vancouver for it? It`s for a Christmas present, and I don`t know if I`ll be able to head over there before Christmas. Thanks!

By the way, I`ve been reading this board for a while now, and I want to thank everyone for all the great info that`s available here. Now when I go to Vancouver, I don`t care about shopping anymore, I just want to eat!

I think you're missing a syllable there - Tantakatan - if its the same popular, sweeter tasting shochu that I know of. I've not seen it being available retail or in restaurants here in Vancouver, not sure about Victoria, but assume it might be the same.

Sorry, I do mean Tantakatan. I saw it on the menu at Hapa, but they were asking for $60 a bottle compared to about $12 in Japan.

Try Promark Sourcing in North Vancouver (not a store - a distributor/importer) 604-904-5171 - Promark brings in sochu and sake for restaurants...not sure if she will sell to the public.

Thanks fmed. My aunt owns a restaurant here in Victoria, I might try to order it through her.
