I've never been and was thinking about going Fri night. I see they have a prix fixe menu of $30.
Is it worth it?

I've never had the prix fixe menu, but if I remember the price of the entrees correctly, this could be a good deal. Plus, I've found with prix fixe that you often get some of the best menu items. I say go for it. I really like Roy's-I think you'll enjoy it, though do make reservations. The place is quite popular.

I have never had the prepared menu, but I have eaten there many times. I have never been disappointed. Fantastic John Dory!!!

FYI you can go to their website, click on cuisine, and there is a menu listing of what is on the prix fixe menu.

Enjoy!

This is an excellent deal - 8 of us went before Christmas. The appetizer is set - a little plate with a spring roll, spare rib (yumm - wanted more...), shrimp something & one or two other things - can't remember.

Entree choice of wonderful Ahi, macadamia crusted Mahi Mahi - also excellent, short ribs, & a few other items I can't remember, but those stand out.

Dessert - choice of molten chocolate cake or macadamia nut tart. Do not miss the chocolate cake - they are known for this & it is fabulous!!!!!! It is a smaller size than on the regular menu (as I remember), but still plenty to OD you on chocolate.

Notes: They charge another $4.50 each time they REFILL (not replace glass with a new one) your Ice Tea - I thought this was kindof outrageous, but did not know til we left. But, all in all, the $30 prix fix is a wonderful deal - so glad they offer it.

Went to Roys and had the $30/3 course menu with the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi. The food, service, and atmosphere was excellent. My date and I had a memorable dinner there. BTW, She had the scallops with risotto and loved it.

Roys is not bad, and you will have a good meal. However I find Roy's (and I have been to 3 locations, trying to like it) is incredibly overated for what you pay.

Plus Roy Yamaguci turns me off. He comes off as such a prick and he is known for treating people (staff, vendors, etc) like crap.

Actually Roy has always been friendly, helpful(gave us the Chocolate Souffle Recipe, long before he published it) and non assuming when we have encountered him, normally in Hawaii. He's only involved in few locations personally so it's always hit or miss with the food depending on which one you go to. The best are still Diamond Head and Maui.

The two times I met Yamaguchi - both in Maui - he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. And both Roy's and Nicolina have been my teenage kids' favorite restaurants on Maui. I also think these places are worth their prices, though not bargains.
