Artisanal cheese event 6-7 Dec, Jean-Talon Market

To promote artisanal Québec cheeses (after the recent scare) an event at JTM, and evidently at other Public Markets - my news is from a local neighbourhood paper so it only concerns JTM.

Meet cheese producers at market cheese shops (Saturday only) and taste their cheeses, and chef's cheese preparations.

At Jean-Talon Market, display on an artisanal fromagerie up on the market mezzanine. Photos and many objects from a small fromagerie on display from 10 am - 4 pm.

There will also be cheesemakers on hand to answer questions.

Salle Mandoline, 2nd storey of the market (there is a lift) from 11 am - 3 pm, free tastings of Christmas cheese apps prepared by chef Émilie Brochu, based on the cheeses. Free of charge.

There will also be a fanfare in the market, to liven things up (though there are an awful lot of people on a Saturday, since the market has gone indoors).

Probably for people who live more southwesterly, there are also events at Atwater?

  1. Thank you for the information.

I'll try to make it there sometime today. I wish I had heard about it earlier.

I was recently at the Marche Jean-Talon and I had no idea they were planning this.

Either they haven't done a good job promoting it, or I missed every possible sign and advertisement, which could easily be the case.

If I get down there in time, I'll share my experience. I hope others might do the same for those who can't make it.

It's been listed for a while on the Marchés publics de Montréal website -- -- and was announced a few days ago to subscribers to their mailing list.

Then I missed the advertisement, and also the event. Far from a first for me.

I got there after it finished. Maybe tomorrow.

I'd be interested in hearing what others thought if they attended.
