Low-key Sat night dinner in Nolita--entrees under $20

I'm having dinner with a friend tomorrow night before going to a 10pm party on Mott and Spring. We would like to eat nearby but I am blanking on ideas. I was thinking something along the lines of Little Giant which I have always wanted to try, but the prices look a little steep for this occassion--I'd like to take it just one notch down. It is fine if some entrees are over $20 but I'd like to at least be able to get a bowl of pasta (if the place happens to be Italian) for under that (ie. no Peasant). I'm not a fan of Cafe Habana. Any cuisine is fine, and we may just end up going to chinatown, but any ideas for something in the immediate vicinity?

Thanks for all the suggestions. We ended up at Ed's Lobster Bar which I had forgetten about and had a great meal. I had the special lobster/pasta far diavalo which was ideal for the snowy night and my incipiant cold.

Not sure if this fits the bill, but Nolita House on Bowery and Mott (ish) serves comfort food around your price point. It turns into a laid back bar scene later, which may or may not be to your liking.

You may want to check out Bread on Spring st. Inexpensive, tasty food.

Good suggestion--I like Bread. I looked at the Aroma menu and it did not appeal. I prefer La Esquina Cafe for quick takeout rather than sitting, but also a good suggestion. I would love more suggestions if they are out there.
