St. Petersburg to Birmingham & back suggestions

Hi,
I'm going to be driving from St. Petersburg, Florida to Birmingham and back over the holidays and am looking for good/unique places to eat on the road. I love anything as long as it's tasty. Will be going through Crystal River, Perry, Tallahassee, Dothan, Montgomery, etc.
I prefer to avoid any kind of chain but otherwise I'm open. Any ideas?

For the US 19 portion in Fl.:

Long, long ago I used to stop at Pouncey's in Perry. At that time it was a pretty decent meat and 3. Their vegetables were wonderful. I looked on-line and see they are still in business...but I haven't been there in 20 years or so!

Thanks for the reply. I also used to eat at Pouncey's many years ago but I ate there a couplel of years ago and was disappointed. Maybe just a bad day. If I make it there I'll report on their current status.
