Sabatiellos Stamford sold?

I heard a rumor that Sabatiellos in Stamford was recently sold and that a Spanish place would be taking over. Anyone heard the same?

I just saw a post on a local blog that seems to confirm part of this rumor. The blog had a picture from last night with a "closed" sign posted to Sabatiello's door and the restaurant dark.

Went by yesterday and it looks to be definitely done: two "colsed" signs, chairs and tables in disarray, etc.

haven't heard that, but if true, another Chef Ramsey homerun!

I really think they need to go back to all of the places they show and see how they are doing (more often than they do). I'm willing to bet that most are gone or screwed up again within 1 year.

would that be because Ramsay failed in his 'makeover' or that the incompetence of the restaurants left no hope?

In the case of that restaurant, I think it's a curse... IIRC restaurants in that specific location never last more than a few years.

Cafe Morelli, which I think was Sabatiello's immediate predecessor, was there for at least 10 years, if not longer.

Wow, was it really there that long? I thought there was a place in there between Morelli and Sabatiellos? Oh well... my memory isn't what it used to be. :)

On the British version of Kitchen Nightmares they did go back to check up on some of the restaurants. Some did actually turn things around while others went right back to their old ways and failed. It still amazes me how these people who have failing businesses are resistant to ideas from a world class chef like Gordon Ramsey. But I guess that wouldn't make for good TV then would it?
