Oh my god Dibruno has the BEST salty caramel I have ever had in my life. It is right up at the registers in individually wrapped caramels. They also come in chipotle flavor and some others, though I haven't tried them. The salted caramel one is just too good. I also think they're only like 60 cents each. Enjoy!!

I'm not sure if they're exactly what you're looking for, but Eclat chocolates in West Chester makes a great caramel with salt on top. You can get Eclat chocolates at Fork, Etc., I'm not sure if they have the caramels there.

I got some really good ones at Capagiro. They also have them at DiBrunos and the Pennsylvania shop at the reading terminal.

They aren't cheap, but you can get them from John & Kira's. The irony is that even though they are located in Philadelphia, they only do mail order. So, you pay the same shipping cost as someone that lives in California.

I think there's a candy stand in Reading Terminal that sells John and Kira's. Not sure if they have the caramels. I've definitely seen them at DiBruno's though.

They have 'em at the DiBruno's location near Rittenhouse. They come in a number of flavors (not all of which they sell) but they are very, very good... http://www.bequetconfections.com/prod...

Just check the expiration date if you get a box of them because they are best for only a few months...

Good point. I was in DiBrunos yesterday and saw one with a Nov 08 expiration. The others were fine. Good to check.

Caviar Assouline use to have John and Kiras in the RTM, but they are long gone. Other stands carry salted caramels but I don't think they are J&K's

Along the same lines (non-artisan), Trader Joe's has "Fleur de Sel" caramels at $8 for 14 oz in a round woodenesque box. I bought some last night; they are OK but not great. I wanted more butter flavor.
