What do you mean by inexpensive? How big a group?

First thought is to go to Beechwood and sit on the patio, order from the bar menu - everything's about $15 and less. Great place, lots of fun.

Depending on your budget, I'd say Chaya Venice, Gjelina, Primitivo, Beechwood bar, Hal's is OK. None are extremely cheap, but they won't break the bank, either. For a really fun Japanese pub that has great cheap food, try Musha in Santa Monica. It's tiny so call ahead if you have a big group.
