New Years Eve in Montreal

We are spending our first New Years here in Montreal and have no idea where to go! We would like to steer clear of anything too raucous, but dinner and drinks/champagne would be great! Does anyone know of any places that do anything special for the holiday? Thanks:)

Although I have never been, I heard that the atmosphere is nice at Newtown and Pino, both on Crescent.

Thank you! I'll look into these places. Does anyone else know of any good places for New Years?

Crescent is a really active and "touristy" street.

I haven't been there on New Years, but I'd assume it can get pretty live. I stayed for several months over on Towers, and usually that area of St. Catherine was nicely active during the day and loud and rowdy at night.

I like Hurley's a lot on lower Crescent, and last time I was there they made me some of the best martini's I've had in Montreal.

I'm not saying you shouldn't go to Crescent, I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if it was nuts on New Years Eve. You might want to have a few places on hand.

Normally I'd offer a suggestion but this year will be the first year I'm celebrating New Years in Montreal as well.

last new year was in cancun with the family - went out with the kids (ages 14 and 17), and while they didn't drink, they were able to join in on the dancing and festivities. This year it's montreal.... THey're still minors... but what can we do with them that's going to be fun and lively?
