Pigging Out at the Pig

After a stressful few days, the Squealing Pig in Brigham Circle was the perfect antidote last night. It's tough to beat chomping on a ham and cheese toastie and curry fries at the bar while sipping on a Guinness and listening to some Bob Marley and Coldplay in the background. And I somehow did save room for the Mars Bar Toastie, which nearly sent me to the hospital, but was worth every bite.

Definitely a cool place....

  1. I was at the Squealing Pig last night too, and it was my first trip there. I only tried a couple of the appetizers, but the food I saw around the bar looked good. I'd definitely go back to try more of their offerings. I really loved the atmosphere - it feels very homey.

    1. I love the Squealing Pig, although their pizzas are never as good as I want them to be. I have not yet managed to try the Mars Toastie, but I dream of it.....

      1. We love the Irish Breakfast on weekends. One of the best around.

I didn't know they did breakfast - do they have black pudding?

Yes, at least they did the last time I was there. Have to get back soon. It was a great plate- scrambled eggs, black pudding, bangers, rashers of good bacon, fried potatoes with a big slice of a good bread & tasty butter.

        2. I had no idea people ate here. This used to be a last call place when I was in college ten years ago. I remember this place in a haze, to say the least.

Damn, it's been open for 10 years already!?!? I remember it as a 'new' pub in that part of town LOL

I'm glad to hear it's still going strong; I need to get over there again soon.

My office team went there for a welcome-on-board lunch with our new person a couple of weeks ago, and she said she used to go there in similar circumstances way back before it was the Pig. (Actually, the first time I went there was a welcome-on-board lunch for *me*, nearly three years ago now!) The toasties are really great, and I've also enjoyed the curry fries and the fish & chips.

Travers Tavern. First place I got served in. 15 years old.
