  1. Shame-was there for a private wine tasting about 6 weeks ago with a group of 6 guys. Bob did a special 4 course meal for us and the food was unbelievable.

They've decided to retire, nothing to do with current economic times. Had one of there servers in my rest yesterday looking for work and she said all is good, they've just shut it down.

    2. They've been at this for a very long time. They already downscaled once (Beaujolais to Avocado Club), and I doubt that they'd do it again. Also, Barbara's no kid.

What I don't understand is the suddenness and the timing. Typically this kind of place gets many well wisher visits when a closing is announced. I know nothing, but suspect either an unexpectedly failed lease negotiation or a sudden health issue.

      1. There were no health issues or anything else motivating it, but as has been said Bob and Barbera had restaurants for the better part of 2 decades and wanted to retire while they were still at the top of their game. Part of this was factoring in the slowing economy and an overall decline they've seen in business in the last decade.

          1. A shame indeed. Talented, lovely staff that will no doubt be missed by many of the regulars.
