Only in Manhatten for the day - Good Beer Bar?

I'll be in Manhatten, arriving at Penn Station this weekend. I'll be on foot and wanted to find a good beer bar within walking distance. I'd like to drink the local stuff, but any good lineup of quality craft brews would be fine.

Thanks for the sage advice.

Search for a post over the last day or two called Top 10 Bars for Beer Snobs .
    you will find suggestions there.
Walking distance from Penn are the Gingerman on W36 & a new one called Rattle n Hum on W33rd There is also House of Brews on W46th

Jimmy's Corner is a great old school place. But it isn't at all a "good beer bar" with "quality craft brews" that the OP requested.

I've been to House of Brews (mentioned above) and it's okay. But I haven't been to the other two mentioned in that neighborhood.

I love Jimmy's Corner but it's a beer bar only in the sense that it serves Budweiser and Rolling Rock.

The Gingerman is definitely within walking distance and is definitely a real serious beer bar. I would definitely recommend it.

Definitely Gingerman, 36th St between 5th and Madison.
