Fresh Mint - Scottsdale
My wife and I aren't vegetarians, but between us we have 3 in the family, so we get exposed to vegetarian restaurants when we visit family. Some places serve "regular food" without meat, and, at least in my very limited experience, these places are mediocre. But sometimes we find a place where the food is so good, and flavors so incredible, that its just a great restaurant.
We've been meaning to try Fresh Mint in Scottsdale, and with family in for Thanksgiving, we stopped by for dinner with a party of 8. I had heard only good things, and that the restaurant was pretty busy, so I called ahead for a reservation. Upon a arrival, the restaurant was empty, and we were the only customers throughout our entire meal. I spoke with the owners and they said they were packed and doing great business until mid September. Since then, things have slowed considerably. Hopefully, the crowds will return, because Fresh Mint is very good.
We started with the fresh summer rolls - veggies and tofu rolled in rice paper. These were incredibly fresh and tasty and served with a peanut sauce. Good start. Next we shared a big bowl of hte five spice noodle soup (pho). We got it mild so my son could try it, and he loved it. Such great flavor. Next time I'll get it with a little heat.
We got the stir fried noodles for the kids, but the adults really liked it, too. We also shared the eggplant with basil, golden curry with vegetables, vegetarian citrus spare rib, hot pot (man that was good) and something else I forgot. Everything was incredibly good, and the kids tried things we never thought they would eat. By the way, the restaurant was very kid friendly, with coloring books and a big wheel of crayons, plus a little stuffed mascot for each kid after dinner to take home.
Fresh Mint is great and we will definately be back. I hope things pick up to keep them around for a long time.

There was another thread about this place a few months back. I keep meaning to try it, and I am surprised I haven't gotten over there yet since I work right around the corner. btw, they are certified kosher, if anyone is interested. One of my coworkers keeps kosher and gets takeout from them several times a week.
