My husband and I will be in El Calafate and Ushuaia during the first two weeks of January. Any suggestions on good places to eat in those areas?

I was only in El Calafate about 2 weeks ago. It's a pretty small town so there are not a ton of options.
We ate lunch at Rick's, on the main street and that was decent. It wasn't fancy and resembled a diner more than anything. My husband and I both tried the lamb, parilla style and we both agreed that it was pretty tasty.
For dinner, we ate at Casimira (sp?), not the bbq one. The atmosphere was definitely nice, kind of warm modern and we were recommended a very lovely bottle of Malbec by the waiter. Lagarde I think was the name. Had a very interesting bouquet which I found quite appealing. Their wine list was pretty extensive. The food was pretty good as well although we did find the beef a little tough but excellent flavor. I had the ojo de bife and my husband had the chorizo de bife. His did come out a little too raw for his steak and had to send it in for more cooking but mine came out the way I like it.
We also ate at the restaurant at the Kosten Aike hotel for dinner and would definitely not recommend it at all. The food was terrible.
Another poster, ALEMD, has written up a couple more restaurants in El Calafate. If you do a search, you can probably pull it up.
      Have fun!
