Where to buy wild boar in the Bay Area?

Hi - I'm wondering if anyone knows of a butcher that sells wild boar meat in the SF Bay Area. I know that Broken Arrow Ranch does in Texas, but am looking for a local shop.

Thanks!

This isn't exactly in the Bay Area, but I just got a whole wild boar from Broadleaf Game in LA, and they were really responsive and easy to deal with. They had them in stock, and when I asked for a freshly butchered one they got it very quickly from their supplier in Texas for me, and shipped it to me overnight for a really reasonable price, so they are easily accessible to the Bay Area. I highly recommend them for their service and follow up.

You can find them at broadleafgame.com, and they have a whole list of all sorts of exotic and game meat. They are also referenced on http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/68797

I've gotten it at Los Gatos Meats, if you're anywhere near the South Bay.

Golden Gate Meats at the Ferry Plaza has it on a regular basis. I've bought the shoulder several times, and have lately seen tenderloins and wild boar bacon. You can also order specific cuts.

That boar bacon is amazing. Great flavor, very meaty, a little goes a long way. The fat is also very flavorful, but it doesn't render very much.

Just as an FYI to the original poster, it's illegal to resell wild hunted game in California, so this is "wild" boar that we're talking about, essentially yet another type of heritage pig breed.

Polarica's catalog indicates it's from a ranch in Texas, so I'm guessing Golden Gate Meats is getting it from the same place:

Polarica is great for all kinds of products. Their hours are a little quirky so you have to plan your shopping.

In the north bay another source is Bud's Custom Meats in Penngrove, near Petaluma. Not sure if they have a web site.
