Birthday Trip and Cake!

Ok, I posted recently about my visit to Manhattan with my boyfriend, and we have recently changed our hotel to the Wellington at 55th and 7th streets, Midtown. I would love reccomendations on a place to eat cheaply but that does brilliant food. Im looking for all sorts of restaurants, ones that arent common in my small english town. Also, I would love to buy myself a yummy birthday cake for quite cheap and need to know a good place!

Please define "cheap". It is a word that means very different things to different people. How much per person? - including tax and tip - and an alcoholic drink? You can count on tax and tip adding 25-27% to the base bill. Are you looking for places for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
