If there are no budgetary constraints, Cafe Boulud, on 76th St., b/t 5th & Madison, serves lunch on Saturday and brunch on Sunday. It is 4-star chef Daniel Boulud's second-tier restaurant, but the cuisine under the sure hand of Executive Chef Gavin Kaysen is first-rate. Excellent wine list, polished service, and lovely ambiance.

My choice is always Café Sabarsky. The room is cozy and old world and as much as I love Austrian food, ending with a decadent Mozarttorte with Julius Meinl coffee and whipped cream is the real draw.

Agreed. It's a lovely place and I very recently had a great lunch there. If the OP is interested in other ideas in the area, pls. let us know budget/cuisine choices so that we can help further - I live quite near there.
