Visiting friends in Germany

We need to go visit an old University friend in Germany. He lives somewhere near Karlsruhe-Baden airport (that's where we've been told to fly into) 'about an hour south of Frankfurt'. We have no idea about distances and driving in Europe....

I can see from the board that there are two 3* crackers in the Black Forest. Are we likely to be able to get a lunch reservation with a month or so's notice in Feb/Mar? Any idea what it will cost - I had a look at their websites but the english wan't working on one and the other just listed out dishes.

Alternatively, could anyone make any suggestions in the area that might be more 'bib gourmand' style ie good food at saner prices? Happy to drive for a good lunch.

I realise this is all abit vague, but we are so out of our depth here...

So you referring to Baden (a part of Banden-Württemberg). Indeed, Bareiss and Schwarzwaldstube are two 3* restaurants in the Black Forest, about 1 hour away from the airport Karlsruhe-Baden. Very traditional french cuisine maybe a lttle bit boring if you are more into modern cuisine.

Lunch reservations should be no problem these days...

I would strongly recommend to do Raub's restaurant in Kuppenheim - in any case this is my home turf so if you more specific I could be of help.
