Blind date near Fort Lee?

Hi, I know this is not a usual ChowHound request, but I trust you all so much on matters of food that I turn to you for this question also. Can you recommend a good place to meet a blind date, for drinks, near Fort Lee? It should be not too loud, not too quiet, not too coarse, not too fancy. Not too expensive either, because you never know how these things turn out and neither person wants to invest in a bad date! Thank you very much.

  1. maybe villa amalfi on palisade ave on the border of ft. lee/cliffside. a little stuffy, but the bar area seems to be nice. or else there is a big bar scene at In napoli on main st in ft. lee.

    1. Not sure when your date is, but The Bicycle Club is about to reopen, and if it's a cleaned up version of the old Bicycle Club, then it might be perfect place to meet a blind date. It's not "too" anything. Not too loud, expensive, fancy, quiet, etc. Not sure what the scene at The Assembly is these days, but it has a pleasant bar area too. Good luck on the date - let us know how it goes!

I've never been there, but if I had to go on a blind date i would pick the bicycle club too! It looks like the new version will be really nice.

      2. Try Mama Mexico on 9W in Englewood Cliffs. It is a fun upscale Mexican Restaurant with great drinks.

yes - he picked the place, a chain-type place on route 17 south of the garden state plaza (I can't even remember the name). very noisy and not good!
