Emilitsa, Portland, Me

Four of us ate at Emilitsa's Greek Restaurant in downtown Portland, ME last night. This is not a cheap place to eat but yum, yum, yum---it was all good. Plate of three spreads with pita, Greek sausage in tomatoe sauce and a salad for appetizers. Mousaka, fish stew, lamb shank and lamb chops for mains. Baklava, rice pudding, flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Better have reservations for it is very small and popular. Service great as well.

    1. Been three times now and had an excellent experience each time. Attentive, knowledgeable service and great flavor combinations. The owner John is a true host and very visible and accessible.

FWIW, they have been nominated as a semi-finalist as best new restaurant by the James Beard Foundation. Kudos and good luck!
