OK - here's the list I've compiled, but I've only been to one or two of these spots. Can anyone comment on the following for ambiance (no loud, "sceney" scenes necessary),? Im looking for good food, and a nice, relaxing atmosphere for brunch with about six people tomorrow morning, possibly a place with outdoor seating??. Also, not looking for the most expensive and lavish places either. Any Im missing or should but cut from the list??? THANK YOU!!!!

you should think about adding cliff's edge to your list, they have a nice atmosphere and not too expensive, I would remove home and square one based upon the loudness factor and lamill based upon the cost factor. I had brunch at the park in echo park a couple weeks ago, very mellow, no wait and the food was very good and affordable. the park might be a bit out of the way for you though.

Alcove - nice patio if you like to eat outside. Bad food - really bland. and really bad service. rickety little chairs- just plain cramped and uncomfortable.
Home - Bad food poor service.
I second Cliffs edge. nice atmosphere, food was good and service was smooth and polite.

Thank you so much - scratching Home, Lamill, and Alcove off the list. Adding Cliffs edge!!

Don't forget The Mustard Seed Cafe...very chill. Good service, good coffee. Food is always fresh.
Cafe Los Feliz...tiny little bakery on Hillhurst and Los Feliz Blvd. May have trouble fitting six, but worth the try.
          Alcove no bueno.

I think Square One is far and away the best choice on your list.

The noise from Figaro Cafe's street noise is more from the street than the "scene", but at that time of day it shouldn't be bad ... however it's on the pricey side compared to your other choices.

Comme Ca is a wonderful place but it's in West Hollywood (as is Taste).

I went to Alcove for the first time last week and I *loved* it. Except for the rickety little chairs! I wasn't crazy about their coffee, but my scramble (ham, asparagus and gruyere) was delicious, and I thought the service was really friendly.

Square One gets my vote. They have a great patio. Might want to show up early to grab a table in a corner, though. Noise has not been an issue for me in the patio since sound doesn't get bounced around and amplified.

Comme Ca is very noisy. I could barely hear my dining companion sitting across the table and were shouting the whole time.

Alcove, Lamill, Home, Ammo are all varying degrees of sceney & noisy, and not great for a group (Alcove is order at the counter).

went to LA Mill last week.

the setting is beautiful and if your guests will be taken by it, go. I found the food underwhelming. Had the clam cakes, soggy. the soup bland, etc. The coffee drinks were good. More ofa place for a snack than a meal, imho.

                  tables also smallish.
