Has anyone tried the Mexican restaurant at the 101/Silverlake exit?

One of the things I love about LA is that I constantly see restaurants that I'd never noticed before -- even when I've driven by an intersection a hundred times.

Today I noticed that there is a very intriguing looking Mexican place right as you exit the 101 at Silverlake. (I was going northbound.) It looks like it's an old Spanish house. Anyone tried it?

  1. We always drive by there and it does look interesting. I would love to find out if it is good.

    1. It is not Mexican, but Ecuardorian- "El Caserio". Do a search here and you will find some favorable reviews...

      1. El Caserio is a fancier version of a longtime Ecuadorian restaurant down the street at Virgil and Beverly. It has a full bar with some South American-style cocktails and a nice patio, if you don't mind sitting near the busy freeway entrance (there's glass and plants separating the patio from the street). There's also an Italian part of the menu with all the usual pasta dishes, but it's more interesting to try the Ecuadorian dishes which are similar to Peruvian, but with different twists in a few cases. It's a little more expensive than you would expect, although the atmosphere is nice enough for a date or party, so I guess that's why.

        1. Went by there yesterday and thinking the same thing as you. They were doing some work on the signage and looked like the place had a fresh paint job.

Perhaps the new paint and sign is why I noticed it for the first time! Probably a good investment on their part!
