The most delicious granola gift ever

waver Nov 28, 2008 05:56 PM

So sometimes my lofty Christmas gift baking totally flops and/or takes up way too much time/money. This year I thought I'd be a little more fool proof and try to make nice jars of granola for the friends. Do you have a recipe that is totally delicious? Usually I like to do things on the healthy side but given that it is Christmas and I'm only planning to give small jars of the stuff any really delicious recipe will do!!

This is really delicious, I think it is the butter that does it. I probably got this off another 'hound, so sorry if I am stealing your recipe (I paraphrased):

    Cherry Almond Granola
    Serves 6

2 cups rolled oats (not instant)
    3 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp maple syrup (or additional 1 Tbsp brown sugar)
    4 Tbsp butter, melted
    1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
    pinch of salt
    1/2 cup sliced almonds
    1/4 cup dried sour cherries

Bascially combine everything besides the cherries in a bowl. Spread on foil-lined cookie sheet into thin lawyer and bake in 375 degree oven for 10 minutes, then stir granola and bake 4-7 minutes more. Add the cherries after you remove from the oven.

Thanks so much. Not sure why I didn't see that first time around but I will definitely try it!

I made this one and it is fabulous! I used the almond/cherry combo from the first response and added sesame seeds. Thanks so much.
