21 Club?
Lifelong New Yorker has wanted to go to 21 since forever, but never gotten there.
Tomorrow (Friday) I'm finally going with the wife.
Should I request one room over another?
Good dishes? Disappointing dishes?
Don't bother telling me it's going to suck and be expensive. I already see that coming.

il trufulau, i hope you report back and let us know how you liked it.
i agree that it doesn't suck, but the food is so inoffensive and predictable that i find it a bit boring. and the price to quality ratio is higher than at restaurants i typically seek out. i think a great deal of the appeal is that it's one of the last old-school gentlemen's club type places left in manhattan that isn't a secret society.
i'm sure you already know this, but the upstairs is schmancier than the knick-knack riddled ground floor rooms. i haven't eaten in the cellar.

re: cimui
Yup. That was it exactly. I'm glad we went. We had a nice time and I might go back but no time soon.
We had the seafood sampler appetizer which was fine but smallish for $52.
Wife had the venison and I had the veal t-bone. Both were good enough crowd-pleasers if anything. Creamed spinach was the least good I've ever had.
Anyway, I liked the wine list and the service was excellent. We wound up meeting some friends at the bar after dinner and we stuck around for a while. It was a really good time but I would certainly not go back for the food.
