I did not know that Napa Valley Grille in Westwood Village had a happy hour until someone mentioned it on another thread today. I looked it up on their website, and it starts an hour earlier than most, running from 3-7 and then 9-m weekdays. Drink specials and items like sliders for $2/each, mac'n'cheese for $4, and some other items that ranged up to a steak frites for $9, though I'll have to doublecheck. Anyone tried it? Compare to Palomino or other nearby options??

This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but I think the Bar on Four in the Beverly Hill's Neiman Marcus is great fun. The food is fine--curry chicken salad is nice, lobster blt is good--and they have terrific cocktails and very nice wines by the glass. It's also great people watching. And kind of festive this time of year. Always fun.

not exactly on the westside, but fits the bill in all other respects:
cafe del rey in marina del rey
terrific wine list (both by the bottle and by the glass)
full bar
good food
great view of the boats in the marina
comfortable place to hang around and to enjoy an unhurried, lovely, meal-

Thanks both. I ate at Anisette last week. I know it gets mixed reviews on CH, but once I got past the decor of bistro cliche overload, I thought the food was well executed. Great oysters and I particularly like the authentic touch of french style rye bread. Haven't heard of Cafe del Rey, so I think I'll give it a whirl.

Anisette fits and you might check with Houston's on Wilshire to find out what their hours are.
