t-day wine?

I'm trying to cut back a bit on the cost of wine this year compared to last year and I'm having trouble making a red selection. Although Pinot noir is the standby for thanksgiving, I find it hard to find a decent one for less than $20. I'd like to spend more like $15 or less. I'm just looking for something plain delicious and not cloying or overly fruity. Any ideas?

They also have a fantastic Trader Joe's branded zinfanel I just tasted last night. VERY smooth and soft edges. They went very fast in our store at the $9 price point.

What about serving bubbly throughout the meal? If you can find Cristalino, a Spanish cava, it is very good for the price (between $5.99-6.99 usually). They also make a nice rose cava, which might be a good alternative. Also, many good roses are being made in Spain and California that could fill the bill, and a number of good French stand-bys are in your price range. I think a Tempranillo might be light and fruity enough to stand up to the feast as well. Cheers!.

Pinot Noir is my choice with turkey. There are a lot of very decent Pinots that you can get that are not $20!!
Mirassou 07, Beaulieu 06, Meridian 06, Red Truck 06, Echelon 06, Estancia 06 - All rate over 85 pts by Willard Wong and are around $15 or less.

The other turkey classic is a dry spicy Gerwurtraminer whether alsatian, california. or pacific NW. May want to cross post on the wine board

Although not as elegant as Pinot noir, the smoothness of a nice Merlot might work for you or you might find a good Shiraz in the price range you're working with.

beaujolais is about 12-13 dollars and I enjoy it.
