I didn't realize I needed my plantains blackened and by today they are only light green and two are now yellow. I bought them on Saturday when they were still bright green. Is there a trick to get them to the blackened stage in a hurry?
I agree with jaykayen, only add an apple (or two) or a ripe banana (or two) in the bag. The ripe fruit will give off ethylene gas to hasten the ripening of the plantains.
stick them in a brown paper bag, fold over the top of the bag, put in a dark place.
