hey all. happy Thanksgiving. a close friend is coming to Cobble Hill tonight to catch up. can anyone recommend a fun, casual beer-pitchers-and-pizza place? i was thinking Layla Jones, but was hoping for somewhere more fun, festive. many thanks.

Sam's is festive in that old school, red-checkered tablecloth Italian sort of way. Good pizza and they have beer, although I don't know if they do pitchers (I tend to go with the house red when I'm there). BUT if it's a fun vibe and great pizza you're after, I'd be inclined to send you to Lucali's and have you bring your own beer (perhaps after a stop at the beer warehouse on Court Street for something special).

Yeah, Sam's is fun. And I've been meaning to try Lucali's. Thanks for the idea.

Lucali's is a place with a long line to get in. It's not really the kind of place you can sit at a table for hours catching up.

I've only ever been to Sam's when it's been practically empty.....good pizza but not very festive IMO.

La Pizetta on Atlantic is pretty festive (the new place) -- no license yet but I bet you can BYOB some beers in.
