Browned-butter fudge recipe anyone?

I used to make a browned-butter fudge in the 1950s, but thru the years I lost the recipe. It was really delicious! The first step was to lightly brown the butter in the saucepan before adding sugar and the other ingredients. Browning the butter gave the fudge a unique tan color and flavor. Does anyone have such a recipe? I've searched extensively via google to no avail. Thanks.

  1. Could that be the same as penuche fudge? It sounds heavenly.

      No, not quite. We always make penuche with brown sugar. This recipe was made with white granulated sugar. Thanks.

        One of the dessert cookbooks of the months of Nov and Dec is Nigella Lawson's How To Be A Domestic Goddess and one of the recipes is for burnt butter cupcakes, but she also uses brown sugar. I made them and they're amazingly good.
