Old Food Network Show--The Guy in the RV..

You know--he went all over the place looking for regional greats--like steamed hamburgers...
He had a kind of high-pitched voice, but he was a very entertaining guy. I liked that show and considering all the reruns of new shows, I'm surprised I have not seen this show in a while. I cannot remember the name of the show or this guy..I remember he had an Irish last name.

Jim O'Connor also played George in the movie "Mystic Pizza".

Wasn't there another guy that drove around in an RV that was shaped like a toaster? He drove to different areas and cooked for the locals? I seem to remember it was like Gordon Elliot's show "Door Knock Dinner", but this guy was the cook.

the man driving that toaster was the "surreal gourmet", bob blumer. http://www.bobblumer.com/

he has a new show now...."glutton for punishment."

Just to balance the picture, I thought that guy was unbelievably irritating. Another grinning muck of a TV host with zero food knowledge.

But you know what? He never claimed to be a chef, or a cook, or any sort of expert. He was just this amiable guy who enjoyed what he did and liked to eat! He was a "host". Simple as that. No big food celebrity. Nothin'. Just a nice guy who lucked out into a great gig! I kind of respect that!

I get what you're saying. I think they just needed to restrict his coffee intake. Not a bad host at all, just a tad hyper.

you're talking about "The Secret Life Of..." with Jim O'Connor - i liked him too.

the show's still on, but with a new host - George Duran took over about 1.5 years ago - and it's just not the same.

That's right! It was kind of a cross between Unwrapped and The Best Of...only on wheels. Jim O'Connor was a great host--so amiable and fun, but without going over the top. I hope FN brings him back in some way! Thanks!
