        <content>I realize this is a long shot, but with the holidays coming up, anyone know of a source for lutefisk?  (local or mailorder if willing to ship it here...)

Alternatively, anyone tried to make it at home? (even longer shot, I'm sure...)

      <content>Damn, got my hopes up when I saw the insta-reply.  Have you tried it?  What's it like? &lt;nudge nudge, wink wink&gt;

I've never tried it (YET!) but I've been having "imaginary cravings" for the stuff for the last 4 years...(craving what I THINK it should taste like...if that makes any sense whatsoever.)

Thus far I have stooped to satisfying this craving with schmaltz herring served with mashed potatoes, but this is probably equally gross and definitely pathetic.  I've decided it's time to get my hands on the real thing, though I'm hoping I won't have to leave town to do so...</content>
