Peeled chestnuts near Silver Lake?

I make chestnut stuffing every year for Thanksgving and I have always used Trader Joes frozen peeled chestnuts. Only this year they don't seem to carry them. Does anyone know where I can get peeled chestnuts on the East Side? I really don't want to have to do it the old-fashioned way!

Buying whole ones, roasting, and peeling them yourself is pretty easy. I usually do it for stuffing as well.

Did you ask the people at Trader Joe's? I thought I saw some in a different section, like vacuum packed near the rice or spaghetti sauce.

I was just at Trader Joe's and they had steamed chesnuts in some sort of container. I think it was near the boxed soups and broths.

Asian supermarkets carry roasted, peeled whole chestnuts most of the year. (link to a picture of the package http://www.koamart.com/shop/38-2182-t... ) It might be a bit far west for you but HK Supermarket on Western just south of Beverly Blvd. carries them for a few dollars per bag. They are on the smallish side but they're soft, sweet, and convenient.
