Italian a Walk away from NYU

I'm meeting my GF around Washington Sq. tonight and I'm looking for reasonable/cheap, good italian within a 10-15 min walk. I'd like to keep the bill under 100$ with drinks (wine). If there's a byob in the area that would be great.

  1. Lupa perhaps? It might be too expensive, but I think you can pull off 100 or less for two. It certainly would be my choice (unless you snag a Babbo res). Lupa is a great place to bring a girlfriend.

There's a few around bleeker street that are solid and more affordable. Rocco's would be my favorite. It's got a old-school vibe and solid Italian. It's located on Thompson btw Bleeker and Houston.

I agree about Lupa, though it may be difficult to keep it under $100. Rocco's - are you thinking of the pastry place on Bleecker, or am I confused? There's another place on Thompson on that block, but I'm blanking on the name - though I remember the chow being good years ago.

      1. Bar Pitti is pretty standard for NYU dating. If you want to branch out a little, Toscana and Malatesta are good choices, well within a 10-minute walk, but kind of far outside the normal NYU range.
