My s.o. and I went to Bentley's in Encinitas last nite. I usually work out on mondays but my trainer was sick. This is the new steakhouse in the old Marie Callenders space behind the Harvest Ranch market. They really did a nice job on the remodel. they moved the bar and broke up the space well with lots of warm wood and stone. The food was fine perhaps a bit high in price for the quality, but still fine, but not great though. I would call it on the same level both in quality and price as the Brigantine. It will probably do well in that location, and for a Monday nite the place was fairly full. The one real beef I had was the corkage. it was $18. Bentleys has a fairly pedestrian wine list. the waitress did not know much about wines, She had never heard of Sanford winery, I had an Alma Rosa wine, which is the stepchild of Sanford. We also ordered two cocktails and let her taste the wine. I would of liked the corkage comped or gee may $10 fee. isn't that what the Marine room charges? I thought it was steep for the restaurant, or am I out of touch?
