  1. Bar pizza is great if you like a thin crust. I haven't had it in the last year but it is always in my top three for pizza. They have a great salad too that makes a nice accompaniment to the pizza.

    1. Yes they have excellent pizza, right up there with pepe's in fact I think I like their white clam a bit more. They also make a mashed potato pie that is very good

      1. it's just BAR, no "the" and yes they have some great pizza. I would rate them a close 4th behind Modern, Sally's and Pepe's. They also brew their own beer. I am a big fan of the mashed potato and bacon pizza.

          Yea, you tell'um. No THE.
          Pizza's pretty good!

        2. Excellent thin crust pizza -- must try their mashed potato and bacon (white).

          1. Thanks everyone for the feedback. mmalad, I agree with you, I tried the pizza, and they are up there with the top 3. I still like Modern best, and Ernie's is a nice sleeper place in New Haven.

Have to agree with the previous replies. Great pizza, the mashed potato and bacon is my favorite, too.
They have one salad with candied walnuts that is delicous as well.

Martin's Riverside, AKA, posthumously, Stillwater, has served salads with the sweet walnuts and then seemed to think adding fruit to the mix was also good. I don't know if one stole the idea of salads with candied walnuts from the other, or not... There were often too many in the salad (thus too sweet), to suit me, at Martin's Riverside.

No idea what Martin's Riverside is and how it relates the salad at Bar. I have had candied walnuts, pecans, etc in many salads in may places all over the world.
The slad at Bar is excellent.

                    OK, I'll splain.
If you put too many, very sweet walnuts in an otherwise good salad (no matter where in the world it is), to me, it makes a shitty salad.
Bar's might be fantastic, especially if the dressing plays off the sweetness of the nuts. Don't get me wrong; I love nuts in salads!
I had several at Martin's Riverside, 3 Clifton Street, New Haven, CT 06513
                    (203) 466-2200, that I considered cloyingly over the top. I think there was cinnamon and other spices on the nuts, as well.

I got your point, I was just wondering why it was posting on this topic, I thought we were talking about Bar? No worries

                      1. re: Tinkerbelldee

Because I saw a similarity in the salads, that's why and they are not that far from each other. Perhaps one copied the other, as I first mentioned.
