2008 Nouveau Beaujolais

Has anyone else tried the 2008 release of Nouveau Beaujolais?

It usually gets a pretty bad rap (wrap?) but I thought this year was nicely acidic and refreshing, although I am a little skeptical of those bottles selling for more than $10. I'd like to know what other people think...

Not rap or wrap, but rep. (As in "reputation")

BBC, Matthew used "rap" correctly. I haven't tried this year's Nouveau yet...any recommendations from the Nouveaus or the Novellos at the LCBO? When were they released, by the way?

        They were released last Thursday.

I haven't tried any of them myself, but my wife attended a preview tasting for media last Tuesday, and she really liked the Duboeuf Gamay Nouveau and Mezzacorona Novio Novello.

I tried a Georges Duboeuf (sp?) nouveau Beaujolais on the weekend (gift from a dinner guest) and, though I'm not usually a big Beaujolais fan, I quite enjoyed it. I found it had more depth of flavour than other Beaujolais I've had. That being said, I'm far from a wine expert, so take my comments with a grain of salt...

I was glad that I never miss a Food & Wine Wednesday in the Globe. I recalled the article and saved my collectibles cash for better bottles.

I've never forgiven Georges Duboeuf since they did this:

That's brutal. And it's the more expensive one, typically. I've got a few bottles (not just Duboeuf) at home, waiting for consumption.

Hi there...I've tried both Novellas,a Georges DeBoeuf Gamay Nouveau, and a Jean-Jean Nouveau...all under $10.00 and all good for me...I love Nouveau/Novella...it's almost gone in most stores..but wouldn't pay over $10.00 the LCBO at Summerville had a wine sampling event last week when they first arrived ...best way to make your pick.......Miranda
