Somewhat urgent I-91 Recs
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a recommendation for a restaurant close to I-91 between the I-95 Junction and Brattleboro, VT.
Price and type of food are not important but I'd love to find something that features local meats/produce or seafood. We also may be coming through at 9PM or so which may rule out a lot of places. Maybe some options near one of the colleges?
Thanks in advance for your help you guys and have a great holiday!

Northampton, MA is about 45 minutes south of Brattleboro and 90 mins north of New Haven and just off 91. It is a biggish college town (Smith) with lots of places to eat. May be your best bet for a late-ish night meal. Amherst is pretty far off the highway and will add time to your trip but does have a place that focuses on local food AND is open late. Greenfield is further north (about 20 mins) and is rougher around the edges but has a couple of good places to eat. You will get more for your money there. Recs for each town below:
Amherst Options:
Tabella ( localvores open late --in downtown Amherst in the alley near the cinema)
Northampton options (all are downtown):
Green Street (local excellent food but may be closed by the time you get there)
Circa (ditto)
Amanouz Cafe (no liquor but yummy food might be open later)
Sierra Grille (food is OK--nice warm bar scene and open late)
Greenfield (both are downtown but a block off the main drag--in opposite directions)
People's Pint (local, well made pub grub, open late)
Hope & Olive ( local, nicely done --not sure how late they stay open)

Ah, you're one of the drivers who will make it tougher than usual for me to get home after work. :)
Northampton definitely has more later options (I might add Osaka to that list if you like sushi, not on par with NYC but pretty decent stuff). Parking and higway off/on might be a bit easier in Greenfield. It will probably be too late for Hope & Olive -- they close at 9 -- but the People's Pint will still be serving. It's very casual, has good fresh local food and their own brews. Happy T-day.

Might call Mi Tierra, Mexican restaurant and see how late they are open.
Owners are Salvadorans and there is a large presence of Salvadorians in the area, so the food is leaning toward Central American style.
Quote: "The chili rellenos were wonderful, the carne con nopales outstanding, wonderful handmade corn tortillas and great guacamole. Real mocajetes." From CHowhounder who's opinion I respect about Mex food.

Also look at my Google Maps of restaurants in Massachusetts and Hartford area. Many are near I-91.

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions. Now we have a great list of places for the next time we do the trip (3 weeks).
We ended up eating at Hope and Olive. What a great suggestion (thank you jjdot!). It was exactly the sort of market based food we were hoping for but what a nice restaurant all around. We were on the road so we couldn't really sample the cocktail list but the menu looked great as did the wine list. We shared a bunch of small plates. The crispy leeks were sweet and delicious and might just be the best bar snack I've ever tastes. Same goes for the rutabega fries. Their kielbasa with pierogis plate was rich and flavorful without ever tasting too heavy.
This is a restaurant clearly focused on good ingredients. Their veggies are local (hence all the leeks and rutabaga, etc.) and their meats are from nearby farms and pastured. How inspiring to taste such simple and clearly articulated food made by people that clearly value their surroundings and their local producers.
We'll definitely be back next month. Enjoy and thanks again for your help!
