Peking Style Turkey in SF?

Does anyone know the name of a restaurant/establishment where I can get a Peking-style turkey (turkey prepared in the style of Peking duck)? Thanks!

    1. I know that both Toon Kee on Irving st in SF and Cheung Hing in Millbrae (south of SFO) are roasting turkeys for the holiday, per signs posted in the windows. But if you want a crackly Peking-style skin, that's probably a special order.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving! I would love to hear about the turkey you end up choosing. It will help us make better decisions next year.

            2. Also can you imagine how dry the turkey meat will be? Duck has a lot of fat and the air dry technique is to dehydrate some of that duck fat.

In Manhattan, Chinatown Brasserie, a very high end Chinese restaurant not located in Chinatown, is offering Peking Turkey. But that's the only place I've heard of that has it. Chinese restaurants all over LA, SF and NY will roast a turkey for you, but that's it.

I have a Chinese BBQ shop where we buy most all our Chinese BBQ needs. One year the owner want me to buy a turkey from them. I told him I was not interested since it would be so dry. He cut me a chunk to try. Well it was so dry we only had one bite. I then used it in a Turkey a la King and it was still dry with all that sauce. So I would not recommend it.

But I do remember a Sunset recipe for Peking style turkey where they cooked the turkey the normal way and then did something to the skin to make like Peking style. But I do not remember what they did.

Maybe I or someone else can find it in Sunset on line.

But I am off to start cooking my share of tonight dinner.

                      • I miss-typed, of course, it should have read duck has considerably more.
