Squash Blossoms: Good Farmers Market for this?

FamousBlueRaincoat Nov 24, 2008 08:32 AM

I need to get some squash blossoms for Tgiving. Can you recommend a good FM for this? I'm thinking SM. Have they been around lately there? Thanks!

    unholy board spam...

squash blossoms aren't in season. SoCal is the place where you can find strawberries in November, but I think these will be harder to find.

Nonsense. Three vendors at the Irvine FM on Saturday had them. The best are at the stand at the furthest end (furthest from the Indian restaurant). I would try Santa Monica's Wednesday market if you need them by Thursday.

Southwest corner of Arizona and 2nd at SM market Wednesday. I haven't been in a while, but when they are available they have the best. It is a bit late for them, but many farmers are taking this crop indoors to support an extra month or so for the demand.

I've bought them recently at the FM on Melrose (near La Cienega) - but this is only on Sunday's, so the next one will unfortunately be after TG.

I also saw them at the Melrose FM just a few Sunday's ago.

The guy at the SM market who sells asparagus and artichokes had lots of squash blossoms last Wednesday. He's on the intersection of 2nd and Arizona.
