Restaurant Recommendation Near Union Square
Hi there,
I'm going to be in town with some colleagues and am looking for some recommendations of restaurants not too far from Union Square. We can always take a cab somewhere just as long as it's not a half hour away. Would love one of the restaurants to be a seafood restaurant.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

A fifteen-minute cab ride will take you almost any place in San Francisco. Please be a bit more specific in terms of budget, cuisine, and atmosphere required.

The 2 classic SF seafood restaurants are Tadich Grill (240 California St.) and Sam's Grill (374 Bush St.). Tadich is larger and gets more tourists. Sam's is closer to Union Square. I don't think either takes reservations.
If you do a "Search this board" search for these places you should be able to find a number of posts on each. There was a post here on Tadich with several comments just a couple of days ago.
At either restaurant, my suggestion would be to have whatever fresh fish is available simply grilled. However, Tadich is know for their cioppino (seafood stew).

If you're interested, here's a link to my report on our Nov 6 dinner at
Tadich Grill http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/573854 which I think is the one DavidT was referring to.
To the OP, if you have time, I'd brave the line at Tadich's. Sam's was good when we went in April but I'd give the edge to Tadich's for ambiance as well as food quality.

I was a big fan of Ame (www.amerestaurant.com) and Boulevard (www.boulevardrestaurant.com)
